Sam in Kinky Boots the Musical

There's some exciting movement for "Trying" and SamSkape Productions coming in the fall, but in an exhilarating turn of events, this summer yours truly is coming off set and headed back to the stage in...

After a pandemic-turned-four-year-theatre-hiatus, I'm ecstatic to have the opportunity to play the character of Lauren, a dream role of mine on stage, in the drag-tastic musical Kinky Boots.

I'll get to: belt my face off, perform with an accent, and make a fool of myself as the funny, quirky, relatable gal singing a mid-show solo that earned Broadway veteran Annaleigh Ashford her first Tony Award nomination.

Inspired by true events and based on the 2005 film of the same name, Kinky Boots is a pop-banger, six-time-Tony-Award-winning, laugh-and-cry-until-your-heart-burts-musical featuring music written by Cyndi Lauper and book written by Harvey Fierstein.

Most importantly... the show’s about drag. It’s about expressing yourself. It’s about accepting others. It’s about love. It’s about pride. It’s about compassion. It’s about celebrating our differences while recognizing deep down we all want the same things.

While drag bans are sweeping the country, Trans and LGBTQIA+ folks are under constant attack for existing, and we find ourselves categorized into parties based on our differences, this show is not only wanted by our community right now, but needed.

The show is produced by Torrance Theatre Company and will play in the 500-seat James R. Armstrong Theatre with a full, live orchestra for seven performances only from August 5th-19th. The show is suitable for ages 10 and up and tickets are on sale now!
